Petley Jones Gallery is thrilled to present the works of Blake Ward and Boky Hackel-Ward.

Blake Ward, Lau 1991 | Hand Carved Carrara Marble, 9.8 x 45.2 x 12.9 inches
Carved from a single piece of marble, Lau stretches peacefully on her bed of stone conveying a youthful innocence as she stares; dream like, into the middle distance before her.

Blake Ward, Larkin 2010
Hand Carved Carrera Marble, 22.8 x 13.7 x 12.5 inches

“Inspired by the grace and symmetry of classical realism, my works explores an irresistible alchemy of sensuality and sentiment, a form of beauty that is sometimes distorted by our demons, and other times enchanted by all that’s pure within our souls. The three bodies of work that have evolved from this figurative heritage are what I believe to be timeless commentaries on our human condition.”

Blake Ward, Vincent 1989
Bronze, 38 x 35 x 14 inches

This life-size sculpture inaugurates the series by the artist dedicated to dance. Vincent stands proudly before us, gracefully turning towards the future.

Boky Hackel-Ward, Damaged | Bronze and 24 Karat Gold Leaf, 30 x 8 x 10 inches

From Boky Hackel-Ward’s Figurative Poetry Collection, this bronze was directly inspired by a poem entitled Mea Culpa taken from Paul Géraldy’s book Toi et Moi. It has been a source of inspiration for Boky for many years. While studying in Florence, she found an old, dilapidated copy of the book in a basement. It inspired a series of paintings, as well as a series of photos entitled Le Roi est Mort.
