Contemporary art exhibition in Vancouver shows Thomas Anfield Twister painting

Contemporary Art Exhibition in Vancouver: Triumph of Colour

“Triumph of Colour,” a contemporary art exhibition in Vancouver, focuses on our city’s emergence from a winter heavy with COVID-19 restrictions, into a liberating spring, infused with colour and light. Exhibiting at Petley Jones Gallery from March 29th to April 12th, 2022, emotions of relief and liberty are invoked by saturated explosions mirrored in spring’s blossoms.

Currently, Vancouver vibrates in the anticipation of spring and lifting restrictions. Works featured in this exhibit promise to revitalize the spirit. Contemporary artist Thomas Anfield, in his work “Twister,” immerses the viewer with dream-like hybrid forms that alternate between familiar and foreign in a chromatic display of energy. While Amelia Alcock-White entrances us with delicate patterns and a palette that evokes the freshness of spring.

Taking impetus from the incredible emotional renewal of the new season, the gallery’s contemporary artwork is alight with explosions of optimism and healing. In “Triumph of Colour,” artworks celebrate an explosive emergence from our social hibernation into a vibrant liberation.

This deliverance is conveyed by featured artists Amelia Alcock-White, Fahri Aldin, Thomas Anfield, Marie H. Becker, Dana Dion, Andra Ghecevici, Hashim Hannoon, Michael Hermesh, Alex Janvier, Mett-Petley Jones, Michael Kluckner, Ann Nelson, and Ann Vandervelde.

FREE OPENING RECEPTION: Thursday, March 31st between 5 – 8 PM

Multiple artists will attend the opening.
