Summertime this year may look a little different. With the lingering effects of Covid-19, most of us will not be travelling far, if at all, in search of our vacation destinations! Petley Jones Gallery is here to offer you inspiration for a Staycation!
Come explore the beauty and whimsy that awaits us just outside of our doors with selected works by artists Marie H. Becker and John Horton.
Precision and accuracy of marine vessels featured in John Horton’s paintings keep his art in the highest esteem by collectors all over the world. However, it is his profound love of our coast, with all of its untamed beauty, that captures the eye and is at the heart of every painting.
Sail off of Trial Island and walk the coast of the Fraser River as a storm brews as you experience Horton’s new work with us at Petley Jones!
“Currently I live in the Pacific Northwest in Vancouver, BC. My origins are Long Island, New York, moving upstate to Syracuse to begin my peregrinations. Since then I have lived in Berkeley and San Francisco, Rome, the Loire Valley, Toronto, and Hungary, drawing and painting along the way.
The need for roots is a theme I explore in my BC paintings with their scenes depicting the way of life here.”
