Thomas Anfield
“My work has always remained centered around the figure, this obsession has taken me in a lot of different directions from attending dissections at art school in New York to doing Butoh performance where as a figure painter I put myself out there, literally.”
Thomas Anfield is a contemporary figure painter working in a variety of styles and motifs.
Anfield primarily works in acrylic painting, but has also created work in Dance, Performance and Music. He has presented his work internationally in North America, Europe, Russia and Africa including the Vancouver Art Gallery, The National Gallery of Senegal, The Jardin Borda, Mexico and the Melkweg Amsterdam. He has co-created and presented three full performances in Moscow presented by the Moscow Ballet.
His paintings have been featured in Modern Painters, Elle, Macleans, Vancouver Magazine and Preview Magazine. Thomas is a recipient of the Inter-Arts grant and the Canada Council Dance Grant.
