Omniscience Series

Omniscience, by Duncan Regehr, is a body of work consisting of two related series, presenting images variously masculine, feminine or androgynous. The works are an exploration of the human essence as transformative and offer a defining visual: The expansion and elevation of the essential core (spirit) from the smallness of inner self to the vastness of an omniscient state.

Semblance Works
Images rendered on small swatches of canvas over stretched linen, are suspended within intimate quadrants. Lines extending from each swatch of canvas connect the images to their atmosphere. The works present an amorphous figurative form residing within a confined space.

Omniscience Paintings | mixed media
An image of a smaller figurative visage is rendered on a linen-like surface and incorporated into a larger oil painting. The figurative visage is repainted to become part of the larger work. The linen creates the effect of a grid floating within an expansive environment, suggesting the figurative subject as an ever-present entity.

Inception Paintings | mixed media oils
Paintings created similarly to the larger Omniscience paintings in a smaller scale. Figurative images are placed within fiery primordial landscapes suggestive of ‘origin’.

Stage six of the Transformation series (the final stage).
