A body of work, by Duncan Regehr, which offers a broader psychological vision of the ‘double’ as an alter ego. Setting aside exact replication, figures are skewed to resemble each other and appear very different in character; supporting themes of manipulation, control, empathy, compassion and possession as transforming parts of the psyche.

Consisting of two related series of paintings.

1. Doppelganger Oils: Large paintings of two figurative subjects who appear similar, engaged in separate actions, revealing contrasting objectives as one subject attempts to influence the other.
2. Gateway Oils: Paintings presenting an individual becoming his “other”.
