John M. Horton’s lifelong love affair with the sea and maritime industries is readily apparent in his paintings and his lifestyle.

Like all of John’s meticulously researched paintings, the historic and contemporary scenes from Horton’s Venice are technically accurate and richly detailed.

Join us for the opening of Horton’s Venice, on May 17th from 6-8pm, and explore the waterways of Venice through the eyes of the artist. A mix of historical paintings and contemporary illustrations of the working crumbling fabric of today’s Venice will be on view.

John M. Horton was born in England. At age 16, Horton joined the Royal Navy and served in the Pacific, Atlantic, and finally in the Arctic. In 1966, John emigrated to Canada, here he has found the perfect environment for nurturing his life-long passion for the sea and its history.
