Under Glass [works on paper]

Under Glass [works on paper]

There are many types of art that require glazing for protection. Most are works on paper. They range from original drawings, prints and paintings to reproductions and giclees. At Petley Jones Gallery our focus is on original works both historic and contemporary. This exhibition shows off the diversity of our collection.

Ann Vandervelde

Ann Vandervelde

I have always believed that paintings are a form of language. An image elicits immediate dialogue between itself and the viewer and it is not essential (sometimes counter intuitive) to understand what the artist was thinking/feeling at the moment of creation. A painting has a life that draws upon others’ experiences and that is what makes it so powerful. -Ann Vandervelde

Water and Sky / New Work

View Paintings

In the last two years I moved in to the unknown to create the new…without the familiar boundaries I used the waterfall and its energy as a subject as I explored new ideas, images and mediums. The constant between the old and new work is the light from within; present in my past encaustic work and now adding energy and mystery to the new paintings which are encaustics and oils on canvas.
